how can we help you?
Welcome to the Shala!
We know that it can feel intimidating to step into a Yoga or Pilates studio for the first time, and we welcome you with open arms, hearts and smiles. All of our teachers at the Shala are fully certified teachers recognized by Yoga Alliance and/or Power Pilates. Our teachers are not only well trained professionals in their field, they are also compassionate and understanding. You will be surprised at what your body and mind can do with the right teacher and support of the group class environment. “Shala” means home or abode. It is a gathering place for students to practice, share, experience and grow. Our goal is for each student that walks in the door to simply BE at home in every way. Please note, Class participants must be 15 years of age or older.
Is this your first visit?
Your First Visit: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your first class to register. Feel free to walk around, familiarize yourself with the studio and ask questions. We accept cash, check and most major credit cards. Some classes are more popular than others. The best option to reserve a spot is to pre-register online or arrive early for class. You can register online for up to one hour prior to a class’s posted start time. You may want to bring a bottle of water. We have cups, water and tea during colder months, but many people prefer to bring their own drinks. Take your shoes off before you enter the classroom. We have storage shelves located on the first floor to accommodate your shoes and belongings. There is a shower in the upstairs bathroom available for use after class, should you so need.
Need a Mat?
Need a mat? No problem. Shala mats are free to use and are available for every class. Additional props including clean hand towels, blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets and eye pillows are also available for use and complimentary.
“No Thanks” cards
Instructors at Ananda Shala sometimes offer gentle hands-on assists to help students find a deeper connection to their practice. However, we also understand that not everyone is comfortable with physical contact and we recognize and honor personal space for any reason. If you do not wish to receive adjustments during your practice, simply place a ‘No Thanks’ card, available outside both classrooms, at the top of your mat.
